Getting Your New Website Noticed

It’s always fun and exciting to get a new website, especially if it’s your first one. You get it looking good, put it up online and then sit there admiring it while waiting for the hordes of readers to show up. When they don’t, it can be discouraging. Well, fear not new website owner, they will!

Despite many online claims, very few websites and systems run themselves. None that I know of draw their own traffic while still brand-spanking new. It does require some effort by the site owner, especially if you want it to go viral, which you do.

Of course, you’re going to tell everyone about your pride and joy, which is nice but seldom leads to sales or increased page rank.

If you are a seasoned site owner, then you have already begun getting your new website noticed using the normal traffic generating drill:

• Submitting your site link to search engines and directories

• Article marketing

• Participating in a valuable way to forums and message boards related to your niche

• Building your opt-in email list

• Advertising as budget allows

• Ensuring proper use of search engine optimizing of meta tags and site pages

Getting any site noticed is about building and branding.  This especially applies to newbies.  You need to increase your online visibility while establishing trust with potential buyers.  They may click to your site out of curiosity but getting them to return will take some interesting content that draws them in.  If you can do that, you have made some headway in getting your new website noticed.  You will have connected with your reader and that is an excellent start!

Successfully promoting a new website brings a steady rise in traffic and returning visitors.  Create a bond with your readers by writing for them , rather than the search engines.  Don’t negate search engine optimization, but neither should you engage in keyword stuffing.  If you are outsourcing your site content, make sure to proofread it carefully before adding it to your blog or website to ensure that it sounds natural rather than nothing more than a bunch of keywords.  Your content needs to educate and offer solutions.

There is a process involved in getting your new website noticed.  It will take some time but if your site is easy to navigate, offers something of value to your visitors and has some good optimization, it will get the traffic that it deserves.  Best of luck.
