Michael Jackson, Ghosts Movie Video: The Maestro
74Michael Jackson Film, Ghosts (1997)
We've all heard the sad news about Michael Jackson passing away. Since it happened on June 25, 2009, I think that I've heard every song he ever sang, have seen every video he ever made. Until last night. Last night, I found a movie that MJ made that I had been totally unaware of. When I saw Michael Jackson Ghosts come up in some search results, I just had to check it out.
I'm not sure whether to call this flick a short movie or a long video. It defies both categories, with a run time claim of anywhere between 35 minutes to 39+ minutes. The one at the bottom of this hub is 35 minutes, 45 seconds and shows the complete movie. I mean video. I mean, whatever you want to call it. It doesn't matter how you refer to it, it's a piece of Michael Jackson, King of Pop legacy and worth seeing, at least once.
Michael Jackson, King of Pop
If It's Michael Jackson, It Must Be a Musical
If it's related to Michael Jackson, you just know that there has to be singing and choreography involved. Think Thriller but with ghosts instead of zombies and you'll get an idea of the feel of this movie. Or video.
Watching Michael Jackson in this flick brought back to me just what an incredible dancer he was. He was absolutely brilliant and amazing. How it was that he didn't sprain or break both ankles while doing the routine in Ghosts is beyond me.
Naturally, he sings, as well. Songs like:
- 2 Bad from the HIStory album
- Ghosts from Blood on the Dance Floor
- Is It Scary ? from Blood on the Dance Floor
Yes, Michael Jackson Ghosts is chock full of the talent that you would expect to see from this consummate performer. If you're a true fan, you either have seen it or you'll make sure that you do now that you know about it.

What Ghosts is About
Michael Jackson Ghosts is about surprise. Not just in the movie, either.
The King of Pop plays five characters in Ghosts:
- The Maestro - scary guy that the mayor tries to run out of town
- The Mayor - yup, tries to run the Maestro (himself) out of town
- Ghoul Mayor
- Superghoul
- Skeleton
Michael Jackson is a busy guy here.
Want another surprise? Okay, here it is: Stephen King co-wrote it. You read that right - the King of Pop and the King of Horror paired up to produce the scariest video ever. Think they succeeded?
Guess what? I'm going to give you three surprises for the price of one. When you watch the video, keep an eye on the townspeople and you will see Mos Def.
Michael Jackson Ghosts - That's a Wrap!
In Michael Jackson Ghost, it seems evident to anyone who is familiar with his background, that our poor, sad MJ is acting out his past and his low self-esteem.
The plot of this movie - or video - can be likened to Frankenstein. The townspeople are all approaching the castle in order to rid themselves of something that scares them. The kids aren't scared, though. They like the Maestro and don't want him drummed out of town.
Things that the mayor says to Maestro are cutting and hurtful. He even calls Maestro a freak. Reminiscent of Michael Jackson's childhood and life in general? The Maestro is a recluse who likes children. Remind you of anyone? Things like this can convince you that Michael Jackson Ghosts is something of an autobiography.
Hope you enjoy the show.
Update
*** The full length version was removed from YouTube, so I had to replace the one video with four. Sorry. Thank-you to TheSablirab for letting me know there was a problem.

I've never seen this video before. I find it so hard to believe that I didn't know about it! You're right about MJ's ankles - it made mine hurt just watching him.
Thanks so much for sharing! When there is so much out there that is being hashed and rehashed, it's nice to see something I hadn't seen before. Kudos to you for finding it and sharing it here!
Yeah I remember staying up until midnight to see the premiere of this short film. The songs from here are on the predominantly remix album "Blood on the Dancefloor". But in this film the versions of the songs are slightly different. I loved the special effects in this film and initially I had NO IDEA that Michael played all of these characters. I was intrigued as to how they could teach the actor playing the mayor how to perfect Michael's steps! The coolest thing by far was the skeleton moonwalking the first time i saw it! :) Great hub
A great man!
And he is living in my heart!
This is a great video/movie (I'm with you on what to call it lol) and I had no idea MJ played so many parts...thanks for sharing :D
I watched this with my daughter and we found it to be very entertaining. I had no idea it existed. It allowed for some great mother/daughter bonding time tonight as I shared this and other Michael Jackson videos we found that she had never seen. She had no idea how great an entertainer he was. She knew only of his music really.
Thanks for sharing your find!
Michael jackson will be loved by many. A father, A son, A friend.

michael jackson cel mai bun is the kink of pop
I have loved Michael Jackson since I found out about him in 1979. Like the other commenter said, never has there been, nor is there, nor will there ever be someone like Michael Jackson. God blessed him with so much talent, and shared it with the world. So sad that he died, especially the way he died. I know he is in heaven, and the only thing that makes my heart feel better is that I know that when I die, I will see him again. I love you, Michael.
I think amera syuhada said "Michael Jackson shouldn't have died, you know." Malay, I think.

It's funny the things you think you remember seeing and the ones you don't remember seeing, but you actually did. I belong in the latter category; I have seen it, but it's been so long! Memories.
As a side note, the video seems to have been taken off of YouTube, just to let you know Herald Daily. Don't know if anyone told you.
